Illegal immigration, the neverending conundrum
Until Mexico can provide close to the same level of opportunity as the US, this problem will remain with us. It creates a huge human rights problem, as illegal immigrants are unable to go to the police for help when they are exploited. It creates a huge criminal problem, as drug trafficking and human trafficking walk side-by-side with the immigrants. It creates a financial problem for states, who have responsibilities towards the immigrants without having much power to deal with the situation.
It’s a legal problem. It’s a criminal problem. It’s a human rights problem. It’s an economic problem. We need to fix it somehow.
